3 Powerful ways to Programme your Unconscious Mind
Be master of your mind rather than mastered by mind.” - Zen Poverb
Your unconscious mind works for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It never rests, it never sleeps. It can process millions of messages of sensory information every single second, and contains all of your wisdom, memories, and intelligence. It is a storage of infinite source of information and holds answers to all the questions you have.
Your unconscious mind is eager to assist you, it only needs clear directions to follow.
Here are 3 powerful ways of how to program your mind for success in life & work.
1. Imagine completing your goal
Your unconscious mind does not differentiate between reality and fantasy. What ever you imagine, your unconscious mind takes it as real. You can use this principle to program your mind for helping you in reaching your personal and work – related goals. Follow these simple steps to use imagination in the most effective way:
1. Close your eyes and think of what you want to achieve. Imagine yourself succeeding. Make sure you are looking through your eyes and notice what you see around you, what you hear and what you tell yourself, and what you feel. Ponder on this for a little while, and intensify positive feelings in your mind.
2. Now imagine sitting in the cinema and watching the same ‘movie’ on the screen. This time, you will see your body in that movie.Again, notice what you can see, hear, and feel. Also notice what you say to yourself. Intensify positive feelings related to achievement of your goal in your mind.
3. Repeat steps 1 & 2 as often as possible. The unconscious mind needs repetition for bigger projects and if your goal is really meaningful to you, this should not be problem at all!
2. Use Afformations instead of Affirmations
You have probably heard of Affirmations, commonly used for ‘programming’ your mind. Example of affirmation is:
“I am rich.”
The trouble is that if you are broke and saying yourself that you are rich, your brain will simply reject it. You may even feel an unconfortable feeling when repeating these lies to yourself over and over again, in hope to reprogram your mind.
Afformations are simple trick developed by Noah St. John, turning any affirmation into ‘why’ question, hence displacing resistance of the unconscious mind.
For example, if you would like to program your mind for “I can see abundance everywhere around me.” (affirmation), you can ask yourself instead: ” Why can I see abundance everywhere around me?” (afformation)
Using afformations is like typing what you want into search engine. Since your unconscious mind always looks for closure, it will look for answers and evidence to what you asked. Afformations are easy and powerful way to program your unconscious mind for success.
Here are few examples of afformations:
- Why am I so happy? (if you still feel resistance, add ‘becoming’ after ‘am’, for example, Why am I becoming so happy?
- Why am I (becoming) so confident?
- Why am I so confident on the phone?
- Why am I such an excellent sales person?
- Why have I such a great relationship with my spouse?
- Why am I such a wonderful parent?
- Why am I such happy, caring, and giving money magnet?
- Why am I so grateful for all that I have?
- Why am losing weight right now?
Follow these tips to take a full advantage of programming your unconscious mind with afformations:
- Write down 10 – 20 most relevant afformations down.
- Read these afformation at least twice a day, early in the morning and before you go to sleep
- You may want to record your own afformations or purchase pre-recorded afformations that you can listen to often ( you can get them at http://www.iafform.com/)
- Persist – although you may start noticing first results of programming your unconscious mind very quickly, use afformations for a minimum of 21 days to gain a maximum advantage.
3. Start Your Gratitude Journal
By maintaining a gratitude journal you can create a massive shift in your thinking and feeling. The following few suggestions can help you start a gratitude journal and a whole new outlook on life.
1. Choose a blank notebook or journal to write in every day. Take care to chose visually appealing journal – something that you will want to return to daily!
2. Look for things during the day for which you are grateful. Make mental notes throughout the day.
3. Write five thing you’re grateful for each night before bedtime. Review the day and include anything, however small or great, for example a baby’s smile, a beautiful flower, or the compliment you received. Make the list personal.
4. Begin looking everyday for the positive angle in all things. View obstacles as opportunities to appreciate. Note these down if you can truly appreciate them.
5. Personalize your gratitude journal. Expand it with pictures, photos & quotes.
The most effective time to communicate with and pay attention to programming of your unconscious mind is in the evening before you fall asleep and in the morning before you get up. These are times when your unconscious mind is the most alert – in other words, you are in state of light trance, ideal for programming your mind!
Understanding how to use the language of your mind correctly, and putting this knowledge into practice, for your own and others’ benefit, will put you on the golden path to success, satisfaction and happiness.

Using NLP in Business
One of the questions I am asked frequently is: ‘How can I use the content of NLP Practitioner Course in Business?’
Well, since NLP is all about effective communication and human attitude, NLP offers a comprehensive set of skills and techniques transferable across all areas of life and work, including business. Essentially, it is communication where all successful business starts, don’t you think?
NLP supports the growth in wide range of aspects of the business, including;
- Sales – NLP, when applied successfully in face to face sales, is often used as a relationship building tool kit. NLP training results in sales people being more ‘tuned in’ to their customers’ states, better able to recognise and build positive states, able to ask the right questions that shift a customer towards a decision and better able to ensure the customer is totally happy with the buying decision.
- Leadership – Leaders have a number of qualities that can be developed using NLP, particularly the ability to create a compelling vision of the future, the ability to communicate that vision so that other people act on it, the ability to communicate in a powerful and congruent way – charismatically, the ability to set compelling and demanding goals, an understanding of people and how to motivate them.
- Management – NLP is a near-indispensable tool for adapting to and utilising the changes in the role of the manager today. Our delegates learn how to communicate easily and skilfully with your peers, direct reports, and with senior management, how to understand the thinking and emotional make-up of their teams and of individuals within that team – and of the manner in which these individuals pull together. They learn how to understand themselves so they cannot be easily influenced or manipulated, how to manage their moods, how to know what makes people tick and how to utilise values to motivate individuals.
- Training and Presentations – Using NLP techniques within training and presentations can enable you to deliver the most effective and inspirational presentations that make lasting impressions. You will learn how to discover individual learning styles, how to captivate your audience, maintain their interest throughout and how to use your physiology and gestures to add impact to your communication.
- Recruitment – Knowledge of NLP enables the recruiter to create a much more specific brief for a candidate, and it also enables the recruiter to find out much more information from candidates than they might think they’re giving away. In using specific NLP questioning techniques to clarify the brief, the recruiter is also modelling the client’s strategy for making a decision. NLP skills and attitude can also assist the recruiter to create state of trust and ease between them and interviewee very quickly.
- Marketing – NLP assists the marketer to determine the most effective strategies for building appropriate long term relationships with customers. NLP language tools and patterns can be also used to write compelling advertising or PR copy.
- Personal Effectiveness - All of our NLP Programmes, even if they are business oriented, will start with personal applications. It is only by learning how people manage and coach that it becomes possible to learn how to manage and coach others. The heart of NLP is the process of modelling. What most people do not realise is that the excellence that they have in some areas of their life can be mapped across into other areas. In this way NLP techniques can help them learn how to be alive and excellent in all of life. People attending this course regularly comment on and increased sense of well-being, success in their ability to influence themselves and others in the way that they want, improved personal and work relationships, greater self-reliance and confidence, greater sense of creativity and thinking outside of the box.
“I managed to get my business to the level where I had an extremely competent team running the day to day very well. This left me with more time on my hands and it dawned on me that I had pretty much had tunnel vision for the last 30 years whilst building my businesses and not really spent much time on anything else. Various articles and television shows piqued my interest on NLP so I decided to attend a course, and then another.
This is a fascinating and huge subject which I truly wish I had studied much earlier. Not only are there huge benefits on a personal level but so much is relevant to business, when you think about it it’s obvious, it’s about gaining a much deeper understanding of yourself and other people, what else is business about? Being a businessman and being interested in NLP is not mutually exclusive, quite the opposite, I would say learning NLP is an imperative step on the way to achieving optimum business potential and life balance.” J.K., Windsor
Essentially, NLP is a logical guide to how the mind works and provides techniques that enable us to achieve greater success when working with and trading with others.
While many people attend our NLP Practitioner Certified Training for their own personal growth and development, the techniques are also of the utmost value to business professionals. In general, our course participants are searching, and finding, better and more effective ways to increase their performance and improve their effectiveness.
